What Are the Individual Foraging Components?The system is made up of two distinctively different types of devices all are easy to use and economical.
1.) Destructible (shredable) chipboard boxes with interior honeycomb insert. Boxes and honeycomb inserts are made from USDA approved chipboard an eco-friendly, biodegradable material. All boxes are free of glue and / or any toxins that might be harmful to a pet bird. The box is heavy enough to maintain its configuration but must be torn apart to gain access to the entire content. Parrots chew into the box to find food, having discovered the food source they continue chewing thru the honeycomb to access additional food.
2.)Boxes are housed in a high impact resistant, clear polycarbonate holding device. Box holders are available in either a vertical or horizontal configuration. A mounting bracket attaches the holding device to any cage with bar spacing of 3/8 to 11/4. Once the mounting bracket is installed you simply unsnap the box holder, remove and replace the used box with a refill.
Increase foraging opportunities by using multiple forage feeding boxes installed in different locations, position devices so that some are more difficult than others to access and change locations frequently. These boxes may be filled with your choice of food products pellets, dried fruit, shelled nuts, sliced vegetables or etc.

The treat box is an easy way to introduce parrots to concept of working for food. Do not be surprised if the birds first reaction is to destroy the box. Parrots learn to forage by observing the behavior of their parents and / or other members of their flock; this option is obviously not available to pet birds. Patience may be required, by tearing a bit of the chipboard away the parrot will be able to identify the box as a food source.

When used as a Foraging Toy: Fill with treats, fresh or dehydrated fruit, nuts, sliced veggies, large pellets etc. Place on the bottom of the cage or present out of the cage on a flat surface. Parrots will work at the openings to extract the food
When used as a Puzzle Toy: Fill with soft wood pieces, colored paper etc, and add a preferred treat. Search behavior will begin. Parrots will roll the ball around for hours to retrieve the contents.
When used as a Noise Maker: Add a few medium size plastic beads or a bell, parrots will pick it up, shake it and amuse themselves for extended periods of time.
When used as a Foot Toy: The ball is light enough that even medium size parrots i.e. Senegal, Caiques etc. can pick up and hold the ball to retrieve any hidden items.
To fill the Buffet Ball: Twist the halves counter clockwise add your choice of foods which might include pieces of fruit, nuts, veggies, popcorn or large pellets. Twist to close.

Foraging Treat Boxes Hexagon chipboard foraging box can be filled with your choice of food. The honeycomb insert prevents the food from falling out. The bird must work through each individual compartment to continue finding additional food items. Each package contains 6 boxes, 2 leather strips and 1 connector.

This is an entry level device for parrots that have limited or no foraging experience. A six inch stainless steel skewer rod or kabob passes thru a three inch clear hanging globe with open slots on the bottom half. To fill, hold the sphere in one hand and turn the rod counter clockwise, remove the top half and fill with the food of your choice and twist the rod back into place. Extruded pellets, dehydrated or fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, shelled nuts or millet spray are excellent fill items. You might pass the kabob thru a piece of fresh fruit or vegetable prior to reassembling to make a tempting lure. The bell on the bottom of the sphere will attract the attention of a novice forager who may mistakenly think it is a toy.

This foraging Maze is a great stimulating toy for the inquisitive parrots. The wheel spins as your parrot holds onto the hole on the maze.
