Parrot Behaviour & Enrichment Consultations provides
Australia's most professional, experienced and qualified range of
support services for companion parrot owners, veterinarians and
pet stores. ` PBEC' is operated by Jim McKendry BAppSc (Wildlife
Biology) BTeach. Jim has been intensively keeping parrots for more
than 10 years and during that time has focused on developing an
understanding of the behavioural and general care dynamics of parrots
kept within companion animal environments
As a parrot behaviour and enrichment consultant he has provided
consultative services to hundreds of parrot owners both within Australia
and internationally, as well as contributing articles for numerous
pet and parrot focused publications. He is a former committee member
of the Parrot Society of Australia Inc and has lectured for numerous
bird clubs and societies in South-east Queensland.

| Jim is an editorial advisor on parrot behaviour for
Australian Birdkeeper Magazine and provides a regular column, `Pet
Parrot Pointers’ in this publication. During 2003/2004 Jim worked
as a member of the Presentations Department at Currumbin Wildlife
Sanctuary, which further enhanced his professional avian training
skills under the mentoring of head trainer Phil Ghamraoui. He is an
active member of the International Association of Avian Trainers and
Educators and currently presents the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Parrot Workshops. |
| The foundation of Jim's approach combines
his extensive knowledge of wild parrot behaviour with progressive
`Applied Behaviour Analysis' management strategies based on `Positive
Reinforcement' training and conditioning. Parrot owners today may
encounter many challenges during the raising of their avian companion.

- Australian Birdkeeper New Magazine Column:

- Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Parrot Workshops:
New dates for 2007 have been organised to continue Australia's
most advanced and professional workshop series on parrot behaviour,
health and care. The new Level 1 and Level 2 format will provide
participants with a comprehensive skills toolkit for companion
parrot owners of all experience levels. Level 2 will once again
be co-presented by Dr. Bob Doneley, one of Australia's most respected
