Gary Colvin has
been involved in the field of animal training and behaviour, for
over 10 years. During this time, Gary has studied both here and
overseas with the leaders in the field of animal behaviour, so as
to always keep up with the latest information.
Gary has been a vet nurse with over 15 years experience in this
field and during this time has worked at the RSPCA, as a temperament
tester and environmental enrichment co-ordinator.
He is a life time member of the RSPCA and The Delta Society, where
he has mentored many students while they complete their courses.
Gary has completed a course at the New York Animal Behavioural Centre,
New York City USA, where he became a member of the Companion Animal
Behaviour Counsellors. He was also lucky enough to attend the Bird
Training For Professionals and Show Production with Steve Martin,
in Orlando Florida, USA.
Gary has been asked to lecture both here and in America and was
invited to lecture at the North American Post Graduate Foundation
course in Advanced Behavioural Medicine, in Orlando Florida, USA,
The College Of Veterinary Scientists Behaviour Chapter, Aus., The
Parrot Society Of Australia’s Parrot 2006, Parrot Society
meetings, The African Lovebird and Foreign Parrot Club, RSPCA and
regularly is a guest speaker at Ithaca TAFE, where he gives lectures
to students completing animal studies courses.

| Gary also runs Parrot
Preschool Classes at Adrian Gallagher’s Brisbane Bird Vet
and writes a regular Behaviour and Training column for The Parrot
Society Of Australia’s magazine and has done numerous segments
on television.
Gary shares his life with two macaws, a Blue and Gold, named Rio
and Greenwing named Cuba. Owning such large and demanding birds
has armed Gary with much experience that he can pass on to his clients.
As well as the Parrot Preschool classes, Gary also runs private
Consultations to help companion parrot owners with behavioural modification
and training problems. Gary will also assist with cages set up,
environmental enrichment, diet and training information. and can
see clients at Auchenflower Veterinary Surgery, or is just as happy
to come to your home.
