| The PRC receives many enquiries
for exotic and native species such as Amazons, Macaws, African
Greys, Black Cockatoos, Eclectus, Quakers, Major Mitchell’s
etc, the reality is that such species rarely, if ever, become
available for adoption in Australia due to their high demand
in the general market place.
Adoption candidates are primarily Australian parrot species
such as native cockatoos (Sulphur crested cockatoos, Galahs,
Corellas, Lorikeets, Cockatiels and other Neophema parrots.),
as well as a small number of non-native parrots that occasionally
become available, such as Indian Ringnecks and Alexandrines. |
